On Education:
While I am primarily a tutor of math, reading, and everything academic, I passionately encourage creativity and divergent thinking. In order to innovate, we must first be willing to imagine, invent, and take risks on new ideas.
My favorite author and thinker on this most salient topic is Sir Ken Robinson. Listed below are two books and one TED video that I highly recommend to every parent, older student, or professional:
- How School Kills Creativity »
by Sir Ken Robinson (2006)
- The Element: How Finding Your Passion Changes Everything
by Sir Ken Robinson (2009) - Out of Our Minds: Learning to Be Creative
by Sir Ken Robinson (2011)
Some beautiful writing on Parenting/Working with Children:
- Love Your Kids. Leave Them Alone: The Art of Radical Parenting »
by Kristin S. Luce (2013)
A powerful TED talk on the importance Student Self-Direction and Intrinsic Motivation:
- Hackschooling Makes Me Happy »
Logan LaPlante at TEDx University of Nevada (2013)
